Hartford County Lawyer Referral
The Hartford County Bar Association offers a lawyer referral service by telephone or email for a nominal fee, which includes an initial consultation with a lawyer. The referral fee is waived for personal injury, workers' compensation, and Social Security disability matters. This service is available to residents of Hartford, Litchfield, Middlesex, Tolland, and Windham Counties.
Connecticut Public Defenders
The Division of Public Defender Services provides free or low-cost criminal defense services to indigent defendants facing possible incarceration, to indigent parents and juveniles in some family matters, and to indigent parties facing involuntary mental health commitments. Income eligibility guidelines, and information about juvenile and child protection matters are included.
